Romance

Year: 1999
Production Co: Flach Films
Director: Catherine Breillat
Writer: Catherine Breillat
Plot? Pfft. Hardcore sex? Why else did anyone see this film? It was one of a rash (pardon the pun) of artistic skin flicks to arrive at the end of the nineties along with Intimacy, Baise Moi and Anatomy of Hell a little later on where the producers knew exactly what they were doing whipping the righteous right and ill-informed punters up into a frenzy until they were virtually guaranteed a theatrical release, acclaim totally disproportionate to artistic merit and Margaret Pomerantz complaining about film censorship.

It was something to do with a woman who doesn't feel any intimate connection with her lover and who therefore screws around on him. Big deal - it's the oldest story in human history and the only reason anyone wanted to see it one more time when so many millions of us were living it was for the cocks, cumshots and media legitimacy all the attention bestowed upon it when it was really nothing more than boring porn.
