The Specialist

Year: 1994
Director: Luis Llosa
Cast: Sylvester Stallone, Sharon Stone, Eric Roberts, James Woods, James Woods
Another lame attempt to make sure American audiences remember who the hero is in this world. Beautiful agonised woman (Stone) hires EX CIA explosive expert and Ronin-style hitman (Stallone) to kill the murderer of her parents (Roberts), to whom she is beholden. I don't remember anything else about the plot, except that James Woods has it in for them for some reason and plays the best part in the film as a temper tantrum-throwing villain.

Stone looks like something out of a fashion catalogue, the camera tracking her in designer outfits lazily with Audrey Hepburn sunglasses, just waiting until the next time she gets threatened or beaten by some egomaniac man. The much-publicised sex scene was quite simply revolting. Stallone should act in a movie where the story has something to say and drop these endless projects designed to simply make him the hero.
