Swimming with Sharks

Year: 1994
Director: George Huang
Cast: Kevin Spacey, Kevin Whalley, Michelle Forbes, Benicio Del Toro
Single-shot satire of life in executive Hollywood is quite entertaining thanks to solid performances and an interesting structure but feels like the focus could have been wider. Whalley is a young up and comer who lands a job working for studio exec Spacey, who proceeds to torture him with a year of abuse (the promised payoff for 'doing time' is the big time). The subordinate breaks into his tormentor's house and holds him hostage with the intention of exacting revenge. Finishes a little too quickly but some good dialogue between the leads and Spacey's torment is effectively grating.
