Tango & Cash

Year: 1989
Director: Andrei Konchalovsky
Cast: Sylvester Stallone, Kurt Russell, Teri Hatcher, Jack Palance, Michael J Pollard
Appeared to be bigger and better than it was - a fairly run of the mill action thriller about LA's two best cops in constant competition with each other. After a set-up by drug kingpin Palance (reprising the role he played in Batman as Carl Grissom), they have to join forces to escape from a prison full of the thugs they've spent their careers putting away and clear their names. The carboard-thin plot allows for some exciting action sequences and the script gives Stallone a chance to try what he'd obviously been trying to do for years - break out his Rambo persona (a task he tried to do more of later with films like Oscar and Stop or My Mom will Shoot), even to the point of a quip like 'Rambo's a pussy.'
