This film took the same approach as A Knight's Tale, taking the hottest young faces in Hollywood and hanging a rock music-themed action adventure of dubious historical accuracy on their teen appeal.

Party boy Aramis (Sheen), charismatic loner Athos (Sutherland) and comic clown Porthos (Platt) battle the evil forces of Cardinal Richelieu (Curry, in the midst of a bevy of sneering villain roles much like the entire career of Malcolm McDowell) and initiate fresh-faced D'Artagnan (O'Connell) into their fold.

In their quest to oust the evil cardinal the four men engage in all manner of rollicking adventures both amourous and dangerous, and Hollywood succeeds in repackaging classic literature for popcorn-chomping teenagers.
