Tremors

Year: 1989
Studio: Universal
Director: Ron Underwood
Cast: Kevin Bacon, Fred Ward, Michael Gross
A more mainstream Evil Dead , or so it seemed, with the film makers deciding to have a good time with cliched lines, a shoddy script, cornball overacting and sticky tape and plywood special effects. In a stereotypical nowhere town in the middle of the Nevada desert, a group of locals led by handymen cowpokes Ward and Bacon are attacked by the cheesiest monsters since Ghoulies. Giant slugs live underground and track their prey by seismic vibration. There's no explanation why they got there, just that they thrust the hapless townspeople from one impossible situation to another as they try to ward off their outlandish tormentors. Bacon and Ward look extremely young and both ham it to the max to deliver a corny Saturday afternoon matinee romp of the so-bad-it's-good variety.
