Valiant

Year: 2006
Director: Gary Chapman
Cast: Ewan McGregor, Ricky Gervais, John Cleese, Tim Curry, Jim Broadbent, Hugh Laurie, John Hurt, Rik Mayall, Olivia Williams
The reason this movie more or less failed was because it contained the modern standards of animation but stuck to the old-style story audiences have pretty much given up for dead with the demise of Disney's last traditional cell animation (which occurred during 2005 in Sydney, Australia).

Sort of a British Shrek/Antz/Madagascar et al, Valiant is a young pigeon voiced by Ewan McGregor who'd desperate to sign up for military service during the halcyon days of World War II, carrying messages across the channel to the French Resistance, all the while trying to dodge the fearsome German hawks that guard the opposite coast.

Most of the clichés are present in both story and character, but it's enjoyable and up to the technological standard you expect.
