Wes Craven’s New Nightmare

Year: 1994
Studio: New Line Cinema
Director: Wes Craven
Writer: Wes Craven
Cast: Heather Langenkamp, Robert Englund, John Saxon, Wes Craven

An inventive idea that demolishes the fourth wall. It's the real world and Freddy is just a movie created by Wes Craven, Heather Langenkamp and John Saxon just actors who've played the roles ten years ago.

But when violent deaths in the real world, including Heather's husband, start to look like Freddy's handiwork, everyone involved wonders how much power the myth has. It turns out the ultimate nightmare has taken place - the films have caused Freddy to become real and he's escaped the world of celluloid to menace the people who bought him to life on screen.

The movie runs out of steam and turns into just another Freddy Krueger chase thriller when Heather penetrates his world to play Nancy one more time and defeat him, but it's a cool idea.
