WMD: Weapons of Mass Deception
Year: | 2004 |
Director: | Danny Schechter |
A documentary looking behind the behaviour of the news business is always welcome and always needed, and this dissertation of how the major (American) news networks handled the invasion of Iraq is well put together and entertaining.
By it's nature it would have been much more shocking 10 years ago, and that's one of the saddest indictments on our society - most people realise just how the news business behaves nowadays and they still do it and get away with it.
The one idea that genuinely shocked me was such clear cut evidence the US military murdered foreign journalists who weren't toeing the official Pentagon line.
