Wolf

Year: 1994
Director: Mike Nichols
Cast: Jack Nicholson, Michelle Pfeiffer, James Spader, Prunella Scales, David Schwimmer, Christopher Plummer
The best performer is Rick Baker's excellent make-up effects in this wishy washy but mostly enjoyable movie that doesn't really know if it's a horror movie or not. Nicholson is a book editor bitten by a wolf on a car trip who finds himself suddenly changing into one - mostly for the better with increased senses and potency which solve his professional and personal identity crisis. Not scary or terrifying, it's as much the story of a man who finds a secret power to restore vitality to his life as a werewolf tale, and while mostly fun and well delivered, it doesn't quite hit the mark as either.
