Wrongfully Accused
Neilsen & Co (Director Proft, an old stalwart of the Abrahams/Zucker school of comedy), do for mystery action thrillers what
The Naked Gun did for the police. As successful concert performer (Neilsen) runs from the law to try to clear his name in a crime he didn't commit, everything from
The Fugitive and
Titanic to
The Usual Suspects cops a barb.
Unfortunately, the makers of sight-gag comedy have come to regard audiences as completely stupid (which they may be), spelling each joke out and hammering it to death, unlike the older classics like
Naked Gun and
Flying High, which deliver gags like machine gun fire. In that regard, this could have been a lot better but falls flat.
