The X Files: Fight the Future

Year: 1998
Studio: 20th Century Fox
Director: Rob Bowman
Producer: Chris Carter
Writer: Chris Carter/Frank Spotnitz
Cast: David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Mitch Pileggi, Armin Mueller-Stahl, Martin Landau, Glenne Headley, Lucas Black, Blythe Danner

A two hour long episode of The X files, this film delivered the sort of closure to several plot streams the TV show has promised but never quite carried through to audiences for the years of its duration.

Released at the pinnacle of the show's success it follows the framework to the letter, even if the script celebrates being on a movie screen by allowing the odd rude word like a giggling pre-pubescent boy with a porno mag.

The trail Mulder has been following for years finally leads to a buried UFO in Antarctica, but the story makes sure to leave a few loose ends (including the reinstatement of the X files) to keep things going on TV. Landau gives extra credibility, but everything else is as entertaining as expected.
